Do you have enough of him? Are you satisfied with your time that you spend with him? Does your heart long for more? As this new year begins, let’s start to examine our hearts and our desires. Is being in his presence and option for you or is there a desperate need in your heart to consistently be in his presence. What does your heart desire the most? Do you obsess over the things of this world? Instead of focusing on his natural needs, David focused on his spiritual needs because he valued communing with God more. He said his soul longed for God in a desert where there is no water. So many times we get blindsided by the cares of this world and our fleshly desires. David chose to magnify the Lord! He could’ve started to complain to God about all the things that he lacked in the wilderness but his fellowship with God was more important. He knew the weight of his sovereignty. David’s heart was prepared. He communicated with God often and sought out to learn the heart of the Lord. When the bible tells us to take on the yoke of the Lord, it is for our benefit. When we step out of the way and let the Lord fight for us it doesn’t s weigh us down like it would if we were to fight on our own. It goes against our flesh to allow God to come and move in our lives because we are so used to self being in control. That’s why seeking his kingdom first is so essential because we have to rewire ourselves for him to be our first resort. And once you taste and see that the Lord is good, you will being to desire more and more of him. God wants us to communicate with him regularly and he is so ready but we have to choose to draw in closer.
